Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year.

My name is Robbie DePerro and I am the Physical Education teacher at Perry Elementary School. I would also like to introduce Oscar Cordova, he is a student teacher from San Diego State University. All UTK-3rd grade classrooms have Physical Education once a week for 55 minutes. The 4th and 5th grade classes have Physical Education once a week for 75 minutes.

The goal of Physical Education is to develop physically literate individuals who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity. To pursue a lifetime of physical activity, a physically literate individual:

 ● Has learned the skills necessary to participate in a variety of physical activities.

● Knows the implications and the benefits of involvement in a variety of physical activities.

● Participates regularly in physical activity.

● Is physically fit.

● Values physical activity and its contributions to a healthful lifestyle. Expectations for class time are that each individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.

Expectations outside of class are to practice the skills and critical elements learned during class.

Classroom rules revolve around respect. Respect yourself, respect others, and respect Perry Elementary School.

● Respecting yourself is believing in your ability to improve. Wear athletic shoes and clothing. Have fun and work hard.

● Respecting others by using good sportsmanship. Don’t interrupt and be kind.

● Respecting Perry ES means returning equipment to where it belongs and not touching equipment without permission.

Grading periods are November, March, and June. Each individual receives a 4-3-2-1 grade in 2 categories. 1.) Motor skills and movement patterns. 2.) Maintaining a level of fitness to improve health and performance.

● 4 = Advanced

● 3 = Proficient

● 2 = Approaching proficiency

● 1 = Beginner
